Stray current generated from the rail transit system will cause serious corrosion to the nearby buried gas pipelines. With the development of rail transportation and gas industry, stray current corrosion of gas pipelines is becoming more serious. Existing test research mainly focus on the rail transit line station, stray current interference from the metro depot and maintenance base does not see more. In this paper, a gas pipeline near Shanghai rail transit base has been chosen as the research object, the gas pipeline potential, soil potential gradient, and rail potential have been tested, the stray current interference intensity and flow direction in the soil have been analyzed. Results show that, the tested gas pipeline is in danger of serious stray current corrosion. The average positive deviation of the pipe-to-soil potential during the subway operation is about 0.5V, while the fluctuation range of the soil potential gradient is - 10mV/m~15mV/m. The current in soil flow into the rail in metro maintenance base while the rail-to-soil potential is negative, which is consistent with the operation of rail transit.
