In order to equalize power losses of power devices in single-phase three-level active neutral-point-clamped (ANPC) converters, a power loss equalization method based on periodic rotation modulation is proposed. Compared with the traditional unipolar continuous pulse width modulation (UCPWM) method, the proposed method can effectively balance losses of each power device on the same bridge without affecting the midpoint potential balance of the DC-link. Based on the PLECS simulation software and the low-power experimental platform, the comparative verification of the loss equalization under the UCPWM method, the unequal loading bus clamping PWM (ULBCPWM) and the equal loading bus clamping pulse width modulation (ELBCPWM) method is carried out. Simulation and experimental results have verified that the proposed method can effectively equalize power losses and ensure the balance of the mid-point potential for the above three modulation schemes.
