Based on the flight dynamics generic structural model of sub-mini helicopter, this paper discusses the characteristic of Linear-Quadratic Gaussian (LQG) controller for the helicopter. We can get its identified model at cruise flight state using flight data. By analyzing the model and choosing appropriate matrix, we can achieve its closed-loop optimal control through state feedback. The results of simulating it show that the controller derived from linear-quadratic-control theory is effective and can be applied to flight control system directly.
