The TEM/sub 00/ mode operation of diode-pumped Nd:YAG rod laser is demonstrated for normal and Q-switched modes with both non-polarized and linearly polarized schemes. Compensations technique of the thermal distortions of the rod combined with the "dynamic thermal lens effect" of Nd:YAG allowed the high brightness laser operation be stable.
