This paper proposes a completely automatic vehicle entry control system which is based on vehicle license number plate recognition. The objective was to design and implement a gate control system which will automate the vehicle entry process while increasing convenience and security at the entrance of parking lots of societies, hospitals, offices etc. This system was implemented using a small pool of tools which include Arduino uno, servo motor, ultrasonic sensors and camera. The fundamental idea behind this was to automate the system that works without a need of human intervention. The system was implemented physically and was tested on various images to check its performance. The system was developed in such a way that it successfully detects and recognizes the vehicle license plate and determines whether to allow entry or not.
