City travelers rely heavily on online cab booking services for their daily transportation needs, making them an essential component of everyday commutes. Taxi businesses are seeing an increase in demand for integrated booking systems, which provide convenience for both parties. The centralized method used by many of the current online taxi booking systems to find, search for, and reserve taxis increases the danger of a single point of failure. In this paper, a mobile-driven cab-booking application named “FindUrShuttle” has been designed and deployed for real-time utilization. The developed application caters to a distributed taxi system based on intelligent agents that utilize local data. The NEXT.js, a React-based web framework, serves as the main backbone, providing the building blocks for the design and implementation of this application. Mapbox API has been incorporated into the application to find the shortest path between two points. In addition, vehicle pricing is dynamic and adjusted based on demand for vehicles. The simulation results of the developed application certainly demonstrate the effectiveness of a distributed booking system over centralized systems.
