In China, civil aviation industry is facing considerable challenges from the ever-increasing traffic volume and change of weather condition. Among those challenges, fatigue of air traffic controllers becomes a threat to operation safety and even to controllers. The causes of fatigue related to work may be due to shift mode, workload and working factors. This study attempts to investigate major factors of the fatigue of air traffic controllers in Chinese civil aviation industry and propose schemes to decrease fatigue risk and advance fatigue management for air traffic controllers.
