A two-step MOCVD growth process is used to fabricate antiguided VCSELs incorporating a simplified-antiresonant reflecting optical waveguide (S-ARROW) design. Preliminary results show lasing in both the guided modes of the reflecting ring as well as the leaky modes of the S-ARROW. Optimization for high-single-mode powers is discussed.
