This paper proposes an electronic device that allows the detection of proximity between vehicles on straight roads. At present, on the roads of Peru, a third of traffic accidents occur due to the use of the reckless maneuver called “overtaking,” which involves invading the opposite lane to be able to overcome in speed a vehicle or vehicles that are moving. in the original lane. This creates a high risk of frontal collision due to the short reaction time that drivers have to an eventuality. Given this problem, a device is proposed that allows, by Lora radio frequency connection, to detect the presence of nearby vehicles in order to alert drivers. The equipment is composed, besides the Lora module, of a GPS module, a bidirectional transceiver, an algorithm for calculating the distance implemented in a single board computer and the visual and auditory interfaces to alert drivers. All stages are integrated into a compact device that can be easily installed in a vehicle. In the validation process, a success rate in the detection of vehicles of up to 92.7% was obtained for 55 proximity tests performed
