With ever increasing advancements in technology trends in military are also observing a shift. The aim of this paper is to analyze the current trends in the military use of UCAV as a point defense mechanism, hence providing security to a targeted area. Currently a lot of countries around the world use unmanned aerial vehicles for combat and reconnaissance purposes but none of them has capability for point defense, since most of them are fixed wing. In the beginning a brief history of usage of drones as combat aircraft is discussed followed by the manner in current technology being pursued in Pakistan. The design of currently available combat drone systems is there, and its conversion to a mechanism of point defense system is discussed. For its conversion two design approaches are possible, weapon launch system design and weapon drop mechanism design. In the first design phase attachment of currently available weapon system is discussed. In the second phase a mechanism to drop any explosive from a specific height is discussed. One design system is discarded due to less feasibility and other was approved. 2nd design was fabricated with all the design constraints kept in mind. All the problems faced in fabrication process are also discussed and their possible solutions is also mentioned. In the end testing was carried out to achieve desired results. This research gives a comprehensive method to achieve target specific combat requirements on any drone specifically rotorcraft.
