Over the last two decades, traffic congestion has become a "worldwide" phenomenon as a result of increased motor vehicles and population growth. Emerging wireless technologies, such as Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) networks, have a significant impact on improving the efficiency of the road traffic management system in Alexandria. In this paper, we propose an intelligent road-traffic-management system, which is inspired by ant colonies and the principles of swarm intelligence. Unlike traditional Vehicular Ad hoc Network (VANET) system, which uses cellular gateways, network access points and other infrastructure entities. The proposed model is better than VANET system because of its unique characteristics, such as, mobility constrains, ease of deployment, and without infrastructure because of the nature of RFID networks. Furthermore, this paper discusses the primary issues in reducing the randomness in current traffic management systems and other measures, such as security protocols including data validation and authorization services.
