With the rapid development and improvement of in-vehicle infotainment (IVI) systems, many car manufacturers seek to incorporate state-of-the-art technologies from their consumer electronics counterparts in their top car models series. Audio playback systems are no exception, as the manufacturers have started introducing immersive audio technologies in their vehicles. This brings up the question of improvement of the perceived quality of the audio playback in vehicles, as the listening environment greatly differs from the one in home audio systems settings. One of the biggest differences is handling the noise present in vehicles, which affects how the reproduced audio is perceived by the listeners. In this paper, a framework for a noise-based loudness compensation module for immersive audio systems within the car cabin is evaluated.
