It is shown from theory and computations that a uniform rectangular dielectric-lined waveguide is an attractive structure that can be part of an efficient generator of harmonic radiation. When a bunched beam is injected into this structure, intense radiation at a harmonic of the bunch injection frequency can be generated, provided the phase velocity of the design mode of structure at the desired harmonic is synchronous with the beam velocity. An example is presented for efficient generation of multi-MW power at 103 GHz, using a 34.3 GHz drive beam.
