This paper analyzes theoretical performance of apodized distributed feedback fiber laser (DFB-FL) in term of output power. Three typical profiles such as gaussian, raised cosine and nonapodize, as well as a new profile based on sigmoid function have been tested. It is found that DFB-FL output power is strongly dependent on the profile's shape and grating strength parameter. The comprehensive result may provide useful information to assist the optimization of output power in DFB-FL design.
