The nonlinear field contraction is a common feature for the second harmonic TE/sub 21/ gyro-BWO. Besides, the electron transit angle is found to be applicable for the harmonic TE/sub 21/ mode. The harmonic cyclotron interaction with an electron beam is found to be much more stable than the fundamental harmonic cyclotron interaction.
