In this paper, we consider the problem of detecting a multichannel signal in the presence of interference. The signal lies in a known subspace but with unknown coordinate. The interference is assumed to be orthogonal to the signal in the whitened space. We propose an effective detector, according to the criterion of the generalized likelihood ratio test (GLRT). The proposed GLRT has better detection performance than the corresponding Rao andWald tests. Remarkably, it is found that the GLRT in the presence of orthogonal interference has the same form as that in the absence of interference. However, the orthogonal interference does affect the detection performance of the detector. We derive closed-form expressions of the probabilities of detection and false alarm for the proposed detector, which are verified by Monte Carlo simulations.
