We report on low-power wavelength up-and down-conversion in indium phosphide (InP) based microdisc lasers heterogeneously integrated on a silicon-on-insulator waveguide in one single device. Error-free operation, i.e. with a bit-error rate below 10-9, at 2.5 Gb/s is shown without the use of additional seeding beams.
