Electric vehicle plays an important role to overcome the problems of pollution and burden on the economy due to fossil fuel import. Vector control technique has played a major role in making induction motor, the first choice for electric vehicles drives. Decoupled control of direct and quadrature axis currents of induction motors can be achieved in field-oriented control. Different control techniques like PI, adaptive, model reference-based control, fuzzy logic control etc are implemented to realize the parameters like, speed, current and torque. In this paper performance of Type-1 Mamdani fuzzy logic controllers with 9, 25 and 49 rules is compared and simulation results show that, the performance parameters like steady state errorandrise time decrease with increase in number of rules.
