In an islanded AC microgrid with loads, battery energy storage system (BESS), and renewable energy resources (RES), the BESS provides balance by supplying or absorbing the power deficit between the load's power consumption and the power supplied by the RES. To achieve optimal power sharing between the batteries, a fuzzy logic controller is proposed in this article. Unlike the other controllers, which share the power based on a predefined threshold, this proposed fuzzy-based controller shares the power by considering various SOC levels in a more nuanced manner. In this paper, a microgrid is considered consisting two batteries, PV, and a load. The fuzzy logic controller takes the SOCs of both batteries as input and gives power sharing percentage as output that is further given to the droop controller to modify the droop coefficient. The proposed control strategy is robust as it works at a wide range of load levels while ensuring good power quality. The proposed controller's effectiveness and feasibility are tested by taking different SOC ranges and different load levels.
