The paper gives an account of a large scale development effort by CelsiusTech Electronics, CTE, which is now nearing completion. The original application of the radar was for adaptive cruise control, which may now be considered proven and ready for full scale application. Equipment in final configuration will be available starting mid 1998. Testing of "interim" models started early this year. At the same time investigations and development is going on for the much more demanding application: collision warning/avoidance, CW/A. Very promising test results have been obtained and the application seems very much feasible.
