The basic characteristics of broadband excimer-halides lamps of low pressure which radiate in spectral range 190-450 nm are presented in this work. Such source of radiation is interesting for pumping chemical and liquid UV lasers, and also for application in microelectronics, high energy chemistry, ecology, genetic engineering and medicine. By using in difficult working mixes such as Ar/Kr/Xe/Cl/sub 2/ all strips of radiation of molecules of monochlorides of heavy inert gases and chlorine merge in a uniform continuum in a range of lengths of waves 170-310 nm, that makes perspective the development of powerful lamps such as hydrogen.
