Summary form only given. Optical Wavelength Division Multiplexing (WDM) has emerged as an extremely flexible and efficient technique for accessing the vast optical fiber bandwidth. It also allows the provision of various services and flexible upgrading in optical networks. Furthermore, there is emerging technology for high-capacity wavelength routing dynamically reconfigurable network applications. In this presentation, we cover topics related to some of the recently proposed architectures, and network components suitable for this important application area.<>
