This paper introduces the coarse wavelength division multiplexing (CWDM) technique into microwave optical transmission systems. The key parameters of CWDM filters are described, and the design of the carrier-to-noise ratio and the 3rd order intermodulation distortion in the whole system, including the CWDM filters, is examined.
