This paper proposes a SiC-based off-board charging system for battery electric buses (BEBs) and its control design for tracking the DC link voltage. The virtual sensing architecture design based on Adaptive Kalman Filter (AKF) is developed to accurately observe three-phase AC current by use of voltage sensing signals. The MATLAB/Simscape model of the off-board charging system is designed to validate the virtual sensors. The control system is implemented on a simulation model based on virtual sensors to track the DC charging voltage. The simulation results have demonstrated a comparative analysis result of plant and virtual sensors as well as the system's control performance.
