Summary form only given. Since most photorefractive media are non-centrosymmetric crystals with large /spl chi//sup 2/ nonlinearities, one can use the highly flexible waveguides induced by solitons for highly tunable nonlinear frequency conversion purposes. In this report, we propose a technique utilizing the soliton-induced waveguides to realize SHG with adjustable phase-matched wavelengths.
