Of late, there is overwhelming growth of the emobility sector and hence, growing interest in electrical vehicles (EVs).In this context, the present paper discusses Eddy Current Braking (ECB) Systems. Electrification of the braking systems would aid in gaining electronic control and total integration of electrical and electronic components in an automobile. Electrical eddy-current braking is a prominent type of braking systems used in textile, oil rigs and locomotive sectors. Potential of using ECB in its different configurations such as Permanent Magnets and Electro Magnets, for automobiles and realizing flexible braking profiles is explored in the present paper.
