In this paper, we present a new large-signal model for TW-EAMs which exploits a self-consistent dynamic time-domain analysis of the interaction between the optical and microwave fields throughout the device. The main motivation of this work is to provide a comprehensive model suitable for design of TW-EAMs for digital as well as analog applications and easily extendable to model integrated electroabsorption modulated laser sources.
