In this paper, we will discuss in detail the 3D image recognition and display system using the lens array, and explain some related issues. For the 3D image recognition, each lens constituting the lens array captures a different perspective of the object according to its relative position with respect to the object so that the 3D information of the object is acquired by one step capturing process of one camera. The 3D information acquired by the lens array can be analyzed electronically or optically to extract the 3D profile of the object or to recognize 3D object. For 3D display, the lens array placed in front of the flat display panel integrates rays from the display panel to generate true 3D images. This 3D imaging technique using the lens array, which is called integral imaging, has been attracting much attention recently due to its superior performance.
