In adaptive antenna arrays using control loops the processing is determined under certain conditions by the covariance matrix Bmn = E(f(v*m)vn)𝒱n), where 𝒱1,..., 𝒱N are N-complex Gaussian noise video signals and f is some function of the phase of 𝒱m. Half of the storages and real multiplications could be saved by taking only the real part of 𝒱n. It will be shown that this can be done without changing the performance of the adaptive antenna array significantly.
