In this paper, we report on a microchip laser containing a birefringent element designed for emitting two orthogonal linear polarizations at 1.53 /spl mu/m. Then we investigate the polarization-resolved intensity noise and isolate the role of the nonlinear coupling on the relaxation oscillation frequencies.
