In order to solve the problem of identifying flight intention when predicting four-dimensional (4D) trajectory in air traffic control system, a method to generate nominal flight profile based on Aircraft Meteorological Data Relay (AMDAR) data is proposed in this paper. A Dynamic Space Warping (DSW) algorithm is applied in calculating the metric distance of two flight altitude profiles while generating the nominal flight altitude profile. Considering the ground speed is unknown, the Large-Oval-Distance algorithm is combined with Base of Aircraft Data (BADA) model while generating the nominal flight speed profile. This nominal flight profile generated reflects flight intention and eliminates the influence of meteorological factors. Case study proves that this approach can provide the whole flight profile to reflect the aircraft flight intention more factually.
