Data acquisition is generally a prerequisite condition to conducting practical radar researches such as radar signal detection, automatic target recognition and etc. Because the target returns hold a very short time interval within the radar pulse repetition period, the common data recording systems cannot acquire the target returns efficiently, especially on those radars running in a continuous scanning mode. In this paper, we introduce the design principle and structure of high-speed and adaptive multichannel radar data recording system, which has been developed in our research. In this recording system, the combination of a low-speed sampling rate for target detection and a high-speed sampling rate for target data acquisition is adopted. The detected target is tracked by a two-dimensional window which is composed of an azimuth gate and a range gate. Controlled by a microcomputer, the recording system can detect and track multiple targets in the total radar scanning area automatically, and acquire the returns of interested targets efficiently online by using a large-capacity buffer and the memory window mapping technology. Our developed data recording system can be applied to various types of radar. In this paper, some recorded typical radar waveforms are showed.<>
