Phased-array antennas used in radars to transmit broadband linear frequency modulated (LFM) signals suffer from array dispersion. Array dispersion decreases the matched filter signal-to-noise ratio and the range resolution of the radar. By allowing the phase weights to vary in time the amount of array dispersion can be greatly reduced and the useful instantaneous bandwidth of the array increased. Results are presented for the array output and matched filter response for a linear array using time-varying phase weights and are compared with those for a traditional phased array.<>
