In this paper, we report a highly efficient Er:Yb co-doped fibre laser, cladding pumped by a 975 nm diode-stack source, that generates up to 188 W of continuous-wave (cw) output at 1565 nm with an overall slope efficiency of 41% with respect to launched pump power.
