Fast charging systems are a key element for the wide market adoption of electric vehicles. The integration of fast charging stations, however, cannot be possible without satisfying the operational constraints of the power grid. In this paper, the impacts of having fast chargers on the IEEE 34-bus benchmark system have been studied and the operating conditions of the distribution grid are investigated. The simulation results show that the system voltage drops below the minimum acceptable voltage limits at some system buses. To enable the adoption of the studied charging stations, a solution strategy for mitigating the voltage drops is presented based on the coordination with the available distributed generations.
