This paper describes the capturability analysis concerning pure proportional navigation (PPN) guidance law for hypersonic interception. Using a modified polar coordinate, the expression of the three-dimensional (3D) relative kinematic model of the missile and target becomes simpler. Then, the capture conditions of PPN guidance law, which are sufficient and necessary conditions for hypersonic interception, are derived by using an auxiliary function. Finally, the simulation results indicate that smaller navigation constant and bigger speed ratio render a smaller capture region for intercepting high speed targets.
