In this paper, we suggested a ‘Close-Formation Approach’ attack tactics as a new tactics to operate multiple anti-ship missiles. This tactics is suggested to increase the survivability of anti-ship missiles in multi-layered ship defense system, and the close-formation flight of the missiles makes it possible to neutralize the ship defense system by deceiving the radar of the ship. We modeled the scattering points, which are the radar measurements, and analyzed the close-formation flight characteristics of two missiles. The ‘identification range’ is calculated through the analysis. It is the relative range from the ship when two missiles are started to distinguish each other. Based on this, we implemented the suggested tactics and analyzed the effectiveness through Monte-Carlo simulation.
