A new THz/IR/UV photon source at Jefferson Lab is the first of a new generation of light sources based on an energy-recovered, (superconducting) Linac (ERL). The source is based on coherent collective radiation from electrons via magnetic bends or in lasing of a pair of free electron lasers. We present a description of the system and its application.
