This article introduces an 8/6, three-phase, modular, and crooked-tooth translator linear switched reluctance motor (MCTLSRM) with active and lateral translator structures. First, the topology, its distinctive innovations, and the crooked-tooth angle investigation of the proposed motor are represented. Then, 2-D and 3-D finite-element analysis (FEA) is employed to study and compare the static magnetic characteristics and dynamic performance of the proposed motor with its counterparts, conventional linear switched reluctance motor (CLSRM) and modular translator linear switched reluctance motor (MTLSRM). The FEA results indicate the supremacy of the MCTLSRM in terms of the flux linkage, average thrust, and thrust ripple over CLSRM and MTLSRM. Moreover, because of the lighter weight of the MCTLSRM, it achieves an intensified average thrust per weight compared with its counterparts. Finally, the MCTLSRM is prototyped, and the experimental results are extracted in the laboratory. The experimental outcomes elucidate a satisfactory agreement with those obtained from the simulations.
