This paper proposes a fast and secure vehicle entry system for institutions, houses, many industries and areas, by using an automated number recognition system without the use of tags or stickers. The default gate control will be able to work automatically without the need of humans and the proposed system will be able to identify the number plates of vehicles in entry gate and allow the vehicle to enter. When the car arrives, the camera will take pictures of the car. The letters and numerals on the car license plate are identified using optical character recognition (OCR) and an open CV method. The final data is used to compare with the existing data using Raspberry Pi. When the data is matched, the smart electronic gate opens and allows the car to enter; otherwise, the vehicle is barred from entering. The Raspberry Pi has a chip (SoC) with Video Core IV GPU but no solid-state drive or built-in hard disc. It is capable of image processing and uses an SD card for long-term storage and boot. If any vehicle passes the system, a picture of the car number is taken using the camera. Photocopies of license plate details are provided as it is included in the Raspberry Pi Zero processor. The Raspberry pi takes over control and checks each vehicle’s verification details. Once the raspberry pi notices the vehicle details that are already available, it uses a motor to operate the gate.. Automation by using such a gate can minimize the effort of humans and can also elevate the safety level in the target area.
