The establishment of dedicated automated vehicle (AV) lanes has been regarded as an effective approach for addressing heterogeneous traffic with both AVs and human-driven vehicles (HV), promoting both traffic efficiency and safety. How-ever, building new dedicated AV lanes in urban areas is not cost effective in the early stage of AV adoption and therefore Micro simulation software package has become an efficient and systematic method to describe traffic dynamics. Different from other literature research methods, the need for dedicated lanes has been innovatively demonstrated for the first time by using simulation studies. Further-more, the effects of different AV penetration rates on traffic flow characteristics under the six-lane background and different positions of the dedicated lanes are considered. Finally, Simulation study on the starting and ending points of weaving area under different traffic flow. It provides a theoretical basis for the design and practice of automatic driving lane for the first time.
