This article presents average modeling of a dual-half-bridge (DHB) dc–dc converter operated with independent control over phase shift, the primary-side duty cycle, and the secondary-side duty cycle. All six possible working modes and their corresponding power transfer characteristics are derived. State-space average models of the working modes are developed, and a corresponding closed-loop control scheme is proposed to regulate the power flow and lower/upper arm voltage split at both sides of the transformer independently. In addition, a transformer minimum rms current operation rule is presented. Finally, experimental results are presented to support the theoretical analysis.
