It is essential in target tracking to determine whether a track is really a good estimated trajectory of a target. Due to many uncertainties involved in tracking, however, this is a difficult task. This paper presents a systematic approach for rejecting or accepting a track. It is based on the sequential probability ratio test (SPRT), which is optimal in the sense of having the quickest decision among all tests subject to the same or lower decision error rates. By introducing a concept of measurement support of a track an SPRT-type test in an explicit form is developed based on several newly obtained results. Simulated numerical examples are given, which demonstrate the performance of the proposed test.
