We present proof-of-concept results for coherent 'time-of-flight' lidar range processing of broadband analog optical noise waveforms using the spectral sensing material Tm:YAG. Time-of-flight resolution of /spl sim/450 ps with /spl sim/30 dB of signal-to-noise ratio is demonstrated.
