A visit by the authors to Russia included research and manufacturing facilities in Moscow, Nizhniy Novgorod, and St. Petersburg. The purpose of the visit was to assess Russian microwave technology and the feasibility of contracting for research and development which might assist US Defense efforts. The firms visited include a wide variety of technology. The paper reports the characteristics of air defense radar which the Russians are currently marketing world-wide. Also discussed is the work on gyroklystrons Gigawatt X-band transmitters, and plasma applications and technology.
