The automotive industry, like any other industry, has been facing a lot of technological changes and challenges over the past few decades. The notion of a sustainable future has played a crucial role in the emergence of electric vehicles. Electric vehicles consist of motor, battery pack and other power electronic devices unlike a combustion vehicle. Any new vehicle designed, before released to the market, it is crucial for the manufacturer to ensure that the vehicle is safe for operations. This is done with the help of obtaining data from the vehicle under various conditions during the prototype testing. The data obtained under different conditions of operation will give an insight into the vehicle condition and also may help in enhancing the performance of the vehicle. In order to obtain the crucial vehicle data, a system which can sense, monitor and collect data is very much essential. Therefore, this paper presents development of a telemetry system for electric vehicles. This system allows for the real-time sensing and remote monitoring of various parameters such as battery voltage, battery current, temperature, acceleration, inclination, throttle response, intensity of braking and location. The outcome of the system developed is validated through improving the performance of the battery pack and optimizing the component usage. Overall, the telemetry system offers a valuable tool for the end users and manufacturer to monitor and optimize their vehicle’s performance, increase efficiency and reduce maintenance costs
