Currently the sensor performance of dynamically tuned gyroscope (DTG) is limited mainly by calibration accuracy. The fixture used in the calibration tests introduces extra errors. Therefore, the mathematical model of fixture errors is determined and subsequently used in an analysis of the effect of the fixture errors on calibration results. The analysis shows that all the error parameters are influenced by the fixture errors. In addition, taking into account the fixture errors, an improved calibration method for DTG is presented, which reduces test costs and enhances the calibration accuracy significantly.
