Summary form only given. Material containing azo-dye chromophore is one of the most probable candidates for photonic devices because of their high second-order nonlinear optical susceptibility. For the use of second-harmonic generation devices the phase matching condition is important, and optical-poling is an excellent method to make suitable periodic structure for it. The most crucial problem for dye-containing second-order nonlinear optical materials is a decrease of the nonlinearity because of the relaxation of the polarized structure. In this study, optical-poling and sol-gel method were used to make a periodic structure and to solve the relaxation problem, respectively.
