The real-time open road driving way determination is one of the important components of a system for automatic vehicle guidance. To determine the road driving way the authors process the images obtained from a camera sited at the driver's place. They describe the processing of the real images and the neural network system that, after a training phase, is able to present the road driving way. The results obtained show that the system is very robust, giving correct segmentations under many road situations. A real time image processor hardware has been developed which is a part of the image interpretation module to be included in the automatic vehicle guidance system being developed.<>
