We demonstrate experimentally a fast switching scheme of output from orthogonally polarized pump four wave mixing (OPP-FWM) in a BaTiO/sub 3/ crystal. The switching is performed by external application of an electric field to cause phase mismatch through the Pockels effect. The required voltage and the required time to shut-off the output are roughly 300 V and 10 ms, respectively.
